Uticaj olimpijske godine na stopu fizičke aktivnosti u slobodno vreme u kanadskim provincijama i na teritorijama

Sažetak
Cilj: Ovo istraživanje ispituje vezu između olimpijskih godina i nivoa fizičke aktivnosti u slobodno vreme širom kanadskih provincija i teritorija, kao i između muškaraca i žena. Metode: analiza dugoročnih regionalnih i nacionalnih podataka o obrascima fizičke aktivnosti potvrđuje da je prosečna stopa aktivnosti značajno veća (X2 (1) = 8.52, p < .01) u godinama zimskih olimpijada u odnosu na godine letnjih olimpijada. Rezultati: rezultati ukazuju na značajne dugoročne vremenske, polne i geografske tendencije koje uspostavljaju ponavljani porast fizičke aktivnosti kod umereno aktivnih Kanađana (stope fizičke aktivnosti u slobodno vreme su bile nešto niže kod Kanađanki) širom svih provincija i teritorija tokom godina u kojima se održavaju zimske olimpijske igre. Ovo ukazuje na to da olimpijske igre, a naročito zimska olimpijada, mogu delovati kao katalizator za povećanje stope fizičke aktivnosti Kanađana u slobodno vreme - pretežno kod muškaraca. Shodno tome, ovo istraživanje preporučuje da se veće medijske kampanje usmere ka ženama u pokušaju da se poveća nivo njihove aktivnosti u slobodno vreme. Pored toga, veći akcenat treba staviti na obezbeđivanje fitnes programa za zaposlene na njihovom radnom mestu - omogućavanje jednostavnosti i praktičnosti za povećanu fizičku aktivnost u slobodno vreme uopšte.
