In theoretical genesis of Philips curve the most important are the following three concepts: the first one is connected with Philips-Lipsey theoretical approach based on the surplus of labor demand and existing of long-term trade off inflation and unemployment; the second concept is based on Friedman - Phelps approach with natural unemployment rate and the curve completed with expectations; the third concept is based on the theory of rational expectations according to which the economic policy is inefficient and Philips curve vertical in long and short term. The aim of this paper was to analyze first two concepts with basic thesis that Philips Lipsey approach is based on Keynesian theory, while Friedman - Phelps approach is based on monetary theory. This paper has the following structure: in the first part the most significant Keynesian theoretical attitudes were described in connection with economic policy and labor market and shows that Philips-Lipsey concept has Kaynesian origin. The second part analyses Philips curve completed with expectations in the context of monetarism; the third part represents final consideration.
