Constituent categories of sports pedagogy

Abstract

The paper deals with play, sport and education as basic categories for constituting pedagogy of sport as an independent pedagogical discipline. Looking back into history, sport came as a result of play connected with work, wherefrom education developed. In a lifetime, every human being plays at first, grows up through play and decides for a particular sport. By means of activities in play and sport, which rarely takes place elsewhere, the child enjoys, which affects his consciousness and emotions and puts in action his creative potentials. This enables the teacher and the coach to provide conditions through skilful pedagogical guidance, for early self-awareness and self-realization of his personality which is the ultimate aim of overall educational endeavor. Specific anatomic-physiological biochemical, motor and psychic structure of an individual is conditioned by active practice of sport. Therefore, this is an insufficiently researched field of personal educational issues which deserve being treated as an independent pedagogical discipline ù sports pedagogy.
