Sažetak

Sumirani su rezultati istraživanja delovanja fizičke aktivnosti (vežbanja) na process starenja. Pokazano je da svakodnevna fizička aktivnost: povećava maksimalni utrošak kiseonika i udarni volumen srca; smanjuje frekvenciju srca za dati utrošak kiseonika; smanjuje krvni pritisak; povećava efikasnost miokarda i njegovu vaskularizaciju; smanjuje mogućnost da se oboli ili umre od oboljenja srca; povećava gustinu kapilara u skeletnim mišićima i aktivnost 'aerobnih enzima'; smanjuje stvaranje laktata pri datom procentu maksimalnog utroška kiseonika; povećava sposobnost da se koriste slobodne masne kiseline kao gorivo za vreme rada i tako štedi glikogen; povećava izdržljivost; ubrzava metabolizam; suprotstavlja se gojaznosti; odnos HDL-LDL čini povoljnijim s obzirom na kardiovaskularna oboljenja; popravlja strukturu i funkciju ligamenata, tetiva i zglobova; povećava mišićnu silu; čini da se intenzitet napora procente subjektivno lakšim; povećava oslobađanje endorfina; povećava toleranciju prema toploj sredini i intenzitet znojenja; deluje nasuprot osteoporozi; može da normalizuje toleranciju prema glukozi.
