Sažetak

(ne postoji na srpskom)
In the historic core of Zemun, once a town and now one of Belgrade's boroughs, between the houses dating from the late 18th century, was constructed in 1935 one half of the family house of Jovan Karamata, member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. It was designed by the architect Franjo Jenč in the purist style of modern architecture. The Karamata family lived there until 1950, when Jovan Karamata assumed the position of Chair of Mathematics at the University of Geneva, where he died in 1967. Paying tribute to its distinguished member, the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts had a bronze memorial plaque mounted on Karamata's family house in Zemun. It was unveiled April 23, 2008 by Nikola Hajdin, President of the Academy. The plaque shows Karamata's portrait in relief (by the Bulgarian sculptor Asen Penkov) and the text (in Serbian Cyrillic): Jovan Karamata / Zagreb 1902 - Geneva 1967 / world-recognized Serbian mathematician / had this house built / and lived and worked in it / from 1935 until his death Jovan Karamata was buried in the Zemun cemetery. His sons, currently living and working in Switzerland, are likely to return to Zemun. The question is whether or not the other wing of the family house will be built. The architect Franjo F. Jenč (Zemun 1897 - Prijepolje 1976) completed elementary and secondary education in Zemun and was trained in architecture in Bohemia. He designed and constructed a number of buildings in Belgrade and elsewhere in Serbia.
