Structural changes and competitiveness: Condition of sustainable development industry of Serbia

Abstract

At the time of a new industrial revolution structural changes and competitiveness of the industry is increasingly dependent on technological change and radical innovations, one of which depends on sustainable industrial development. The work deals with the structural changes and the competitiveness of manufacturing industry Serbia. The aim of the research is to highlight the importance of structural changes and the growth of its competitiveness, as measured by the CIP index, in order to achieve sustainable industrial and economic development. Low competitiveness and intensity of industrialization as a result of the structural changes that are late and are not directed towards areas with greater technological intensity and yields. The important message of the paper is that sustainable industrial development can be achieved provided that it vigorously implements its industrialization process, which requires an effective technological and industrial policy.
