Sažetak

Onlajn komunikacija i sve inovacije koje ona sa sobom nosi otvaraju mnoga polja analize u oblastima kao što su lingvistika, psihologija, sociologija, te sve njihove interdisciplinarne kombinacije. Jedna takva inovacija, u najvećoj meri vezana za virtuelni svet i komunikaciju, opisuje se u ovom radu. Prvo se daju definicije emotograma i njihovo poreklo, tj. kontekst u kome su nastali i razlozi za njihovu popularnost, a onda se govori o evoluciji izgleda emotograma, od najjednostavnijih grafičkih prikaza sastavljenih isključivo od znakova interpunkcije do sličica koje predstavljaju najraznovrsnije stvari. Potom se detaljno raspravlja o tri funkcije emotograma u onlajn komunikaciji: prenošenje izraza lica sagovornika, prenošenje emocija koje sagovornici osećaju, i izražavanje nekolikih pragmatičkih funkcija kao što su obeležavanje pozitivnog stava, obeležavanje ironije, ili funkcija emotograma kao pragmatičke ograde koja ublažava negativnost iskaza, kao npr. kada se govornik na nešto žali ili kad nešto zahteva, ili koja pojačava pozitivnost iskaza, npr. kada se govornik zahvaljuje ili nešto nekome obećava.
