Malarija u 21. veku - i dalje preteći problem

Sažetak

Postoji šest vrsta parazita roda Plasmodium (P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale curtisi, P. ovale vallikeri, P. malariae i P. knowlesi) koji uzrokuju malariju kod ljudi. P. falciparum je odgovoran za većinu smrtnih slučajeva vezanih za malariju. P. vivax je dominantni parazit malarije u većini zemalja izvan podsaharske Afrike. U 2016. godini 91 zemlja je prijavila ukupno 216 miliona obolelih od malarije. Broj smrtnih slučajeva u 2016. godini je 445.000. U 2016. godini u Srbiji su registrovana 24 obolela od malarije (učestalost 0,33/100.000). U skladu sa preporukama WHO, svaka sumnja na malariju treba da se potvrdi mikroskopijom ili brzim dijagnostičkim testom pre lečenja. Glavni oslonac antimalarične terapije treba da budu kombinacije sa artemisininom. Budući da se malarija u velikom broju evropskih zemalja javlja kao unesena (mada retko i kao autohtona i bolnički stečena infekcija), cilj ovog rada je upoznavanje sa aktuelnim problemima i stavovima u dijagnostici i lečenju malarije, bez upuštanja u detalje značajne za profesionalce koji se ovim problemima posebno bave (infekolozi, epidemiolozi, intenzivisti).
