Abstract
The term cultural specificity refers to cultural differences and similarities between the two cultures which are compared. The term cultural specificity summarizes all forms of linguistic and non-linguistic behavior and actions, which are different in basically one culture to its prevailing norms and conventions, but also on the basis of historical, political, geographical, climatic or other conditions, in respect of other cultures. This article will give you the answer on the question is for effective communication enough just high language knowledge, or is there also behaviour nessesary too. What should a translator be aware of in order for it to be laid for a successful communication? As oral language differs from culture to culture, some body signals also differ. While some gestures are common to a particular culture and have a clear meaning, otherwise in some other culture the same one can be meaningless or even have a completely different meaning. Cultural differences are numerous, but many language body signals are the same everywhere. Wrong interpretation of gestures due to cultural differences can lead to awkward situations. The aim is not to lose main concepts and relations between cultures during translation of foreign terms.
