The economy of the application of organic fertiliser in the production of young potatoes grown in sand

Abstract
The production of young potatoes has great agrotechnical importance, because after harvest of young potatoes, other crops can be grown in the same growing season, which means that two harvests can be done in one year, which contributes to exploiting the soil more effectively. In a field experiment conducted in 2012. on a private farm in Donji Tavankut, the yield dynamics and the economic profit of young potatoes were studied, dependent on the application of high doses of cattle manure and different harvesting periods. In all three harvesting periods, the highest yield as well as the highest additional profit and income were made on the treatment with the highest dose of organic fertiliser 126 applied (60 t ha-1) and the lowest additional profit was made on the least fertilization treatment. In the production of young potatoes during 2012 in poor soil, such as sand, the highest return per invested dinar for fertilizer application was made on the treatment with 60 t ha-1 cattle manure applied (2,53). Fertilisation with 60 t ha-1 cattle manure proved to be economically the most cost-effective treatment in the production of young potatoes in 2012., with 30 din kg-1 sales price realised on the market.
