Sažetak

Izloženi su: nastanak testa, modifikacija i različita primena step testa u vojnoj medicini, medicini rada i sportu. Potreba da se istražuje aerobna sposobnost ljudi dovela je 1943. godine do nastanka Harvardskog step-testa i step-klupice za testiranje ove sposobnosti. Njegova primena izazvala je veliku pažnju, ali i kritiku, pa su preduzeta mnogobrojna ispitivanja radi poboljšanja njegovih metrijskih karakteristika, pri čemu su nastale brojne opisane modifikacije testa. Kasnije nastanak metrijski kvalitetnijih testova i ergometara za direktno merenje i indirektnu procenu VO2max omogućila je pouzdanije ispitivanje aerobne sposobnosti. Ipak, prednost step-klupice (jednostavnost, ekonomičnost, mogućnost masovne primene) u mnogim slučajevima favorizuje step-test.
