High council of judges and prosecutors in Turkey and compliance with European standards

Abstract
In this paper, in an attempt to develop an overview, the author strives to present international standards on judicial councils and in line with the standards to assess legal framework in Turkey after amendments of the Law on High Judicial Council. Amendments to the Law on High Judicial Council were adopted in 2014. However, Dutch Judges for Judges Association, MEDEL (European association of judges and prosecutors for liberties and democracy, as well as Consultative Council of European Judges raised objections on specific articles and solutions in the Law that violated independence of judiciary and Council and Judicial Council .subordinated to the executive branch. Having that in mind, author referred to the remarks and pointed international standards and models of regulating these issues in line with those standards.
