Some aspects of biologism in Freud's psychoanalysis
Clinical Center of Serbia, Clinic for Psychiatry, Belgrade

S. Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, based his theory on a series of biological facts. By getting insight into the ubiquitous physiological principles Freud was able to incorporate biological structures into the foundation of psychoanalysis, although it failed to provide complete satisfaction to him in producing a universal causal theory. In making efforts to elucidate Freud's biologism the authors indicate a possible solution of body vs soul dichotomy which plays an important role in his work. They are describing it as metapsychology, as the superstructure of organogenetics with the concepts of structural-topical. The result of Freud's speculative effort was the setting up of a syncretic theory, a universal biological metaphor, which evaluates a human being, his development and growth through a close interaction of organic needs and environmental influences.
