Bacteriological attestation diagnosis is made in Laboratory for Microbiology in Institute of Public Health. In the observed period we registered in Belgrade 2494 cases of dysentery with average annual morbidity rate 10,1 per 100.000 populations. Annual morbidity oscillated from 27,3 cases per 100.000 population (in 1994) to 1,7 cases per population (in 2001). Average annual mortality rate was 0.05/100.000 populations and lethality was 0,5%. According to age, highest number of cases was registered in the group from 0 to 6 years old (855 cases or 34,3%). Disease is occur all through the year with explicitly increase in summer, from August to October, and it was 59,6% (1485).
