Abstract
A trend towards the reduction of fossil fuel consumption due to their irreversible depletion and environmental pollution is increasingly emphasising the necesssity of renewable source utilisation and the practical introduction of new energy technologies. Cogeneration (CHP) plants using biomass as a primary energy source can be classified as a recent energy transformation technology using both fossil fuels and renewable energy sources. Such plants provide very favourable and cost-effective options for supplying electrical and thermal energy to industrial consumers and district heating. This paper displays the justification of the biomass cogeneration (CHP) plant construction in TETO Zrenjanin, which is a constituent of Panonske TE-TO Ltd. The designed plant generates 10 MWe of electrical energy with the output thermal energy of 20 MWt, which could meet 57% of the total heat requirements in the town of Zrenjanin. With the investment of RSD 43.530.810, the necessity of procuring RSD 1.400.000 of working assets, the annual income of RSD 1.013.737.648, the costs of RSD 460.453.728 and the current project net worth of RSD 7.065.010.064, it has been calculated that the investment is cost-effective and it should be made.
