Business English course outline in a global context

Abstract
In this paper we have tried to illustrate how changes on the global social and economic level raise the demand for Business English learning. Education is becoming globalised together with the economy. In many countries extensive curriculum reforms are taking place imposing the need for a life-long learning process. Being the most prevalent language in international business, English is needed by business schools students preparing for their future careers as well as by job-experienced people. The role of the teacher has shifted and teachers are expected to be flexible and brave enough to move into new fields of specific professional expertise which reach far beyond mere language teaching. The paper further addresses issues of importance such as Business English course outline, syllabus design, evaluation and assessment.
