Abstract

This work emphasizes the features of individual style of the poet Zoran Kostic through analysis of the poem “Jezikrvlje”. We will demonstrate the way in which Kostic deautomatizes his view of the world, i.e. renders his style original and recognizable by making his view of the world unusual. By analyzing the verses of the poem, we could notice that the predominant style in this poem are neologisms, i.e. occasionalisms, which testify of the poet’s originality, authenticity as well as his emerging awareness of new contents and concepts. Also, a significant portion in the structure of Kostic’s poetic style is represented by phonetic-phonological, lexical and grammatical reiteration. The stylistic effect is achieved by eliminating certain grammatical categories (in this poem, it is the verbs that are eliminated) which is perceived as a unique minus-action, and the poetry itself as verb-less. These are the reasons that Zoran Kostic’s poetry can be predominantly called grammar poetry.
