Experimental platform for strength class system introduction of domestic coniferous timber

Abstract

Introduction of European legislation in domestic civil engineering practice in the field of timber structures considers, besides recognition and acceptance of basic rules and requirements for structural design according to EC5, performing of huge number of accompanying investigations in order to adequate identification of basic materials, fasteners, assemblies, etc. The experimentally supported analysis of domestic coniferous technical wood of I, II, and III quality class according to EN requirements, in order to identify the adequate strength classes, is given in the paper. The performed compa­rative analysis is given as the platform for strength class system introduction in domestic legislative, with the idea to give the frame to designers and constructors of correct appliance of timber present on domestic market into the structures.
