Methodological approach to historical sources in natural and social sciences textbooks

Abstract

Presence of historical sources and their analysis in teaching Natural and Social Sciences make this subject closer to logic and the methodology of the science of history, enabling better understanding of historical contents which are being studied. The aim of this paper would be observing the presence and methodological approach to historical sources in the Natural and Social Sciences textbooks. The method of the analysis contents on the sample textbooks for the fourth grade of the primary school, it has been determined that in the textbooks, there is a great number of historical sources, but that they are almost exclusively used in the function of illustration of the textbook text. Only sometimes there are requirements for students to do a sort of the analysis of the presented historical sources, and this is how they become sources of historical knowledge for students. The comparative analysis of the data collected by observing lessons of Natural and social Sciences in which historical sources were used, there was similar tendency to textbooks.
