Abstract
Economists like to think that their discipline is 'the most scientific' of all the social sciences, which argument is supported by the abstract mathematical models and deductive methods that are currently prevalent in the profession. However, the inability of accepted economic theory to come to grips with the world’s problems from the 1970s to the present have been quite disturbing for this profession. Economists’ reliance on the said mathematical problems and deductive methods as a substitute for studying economics in the real world and its social institutions, has contributed to their failure.
