Sažetak
Ekonomska performansa EU predmet je mnogobrojnih ekonomskih i političkih debata u poslednjih nekoliko godina. Postojala je, a i dalje je prisutna, zabrinutost da Evropa nije dovoljno spremna da se suoči sa novim globalnim izazovima poput pojave velikih konkurentnih ekonomija, potrebe za energetskom efikasnošću i sigurnošću ili brzog razvoja tehnoloških inovacija. Takva zabrinutost, izgleda da je bila preterana, budući da evropske privrede dobro funkcionisale i napredovale, relativno posmatrano. Ali, mnogi će se sloŽiti da Evropa još uvek nije ostvarila svoj pun potencijal i da je trenutna kriza prouzrokovala neviđene posledice tradicionalnim delovima ekonomije. EU je predloŽila novu strategiju- Evropa 2020, za odrŽiv i inkluzivan rast. Ova strategija sadrži u sebi, i usmerena je na konsolidaciju javnih finansija uz istovremeno promovisanje ekonomske integracije, investiranja u pan-Evropsku energetsku i transportnu infrastrukturu i razvoj budućih informacija i komunikacionih tehnologija. Veliki akcenat je takođe stavljen na poboljšanje veština i promociju inovacija.
