The teacher: Efficient class leader

Abstract
Holding the position that a part of the teacher's responsibilities is to create and maintain a stimulating class atmosphere in which each student will have a chance to realize their potentials, and to organize teaching in such a manner to make it challenging and stimulating for students' further development, we tried to identify the capabilities, skills and knowledge necessary for the teacher to become an efficient class leader. We defined leadership, one of four fundamental functions of management, as primarily an operative function which implies a continuous influence upon students and is related to interpersonal and communicational aspects of management aimed at motivating students to fulfill the curricular goals and leading them toward autonomous learning by developing their abilities and acquisition of skills and learning techniques.
