Sažetak
Nivo primjene informacionih tehnologija u savremenim zdravstvenim sistemima kontinuirano raste u cijelom svijetu. Praktično korišćenje novih tehnologija olakšava i ubrzava proces zdravstvene zaštite. Svjetska zdravstvena organizacja definisala je telemedicinu 1997. god kao obezbjeđivanje zdravstvenih usluga u kojima udaljenost predstavlja kritični faktor od strane zdravstvenih profesionalaca koji koriste informacione i komunikacione tehnologije za uspostavljanje dijagnoze, predlaganje tretmana i prevenciju bolesti, kao i za permanentno usavršavanje zdravstvenih profesionalaca, u istraživanjima i evaluaciji zdravstvenih aktivnosti, u cilju unapređivanja zdravlja ljudi i zajednica u kojima žive i rade. S obzirom na ,,vrh ledenog brijega' koji se danas vidi kada su upitanju nefrološke bolesti, u budućnosti možemo očekivati sve veći broj novih informacionih sistema i tehnologija koje će se primjenjivati u nefrologiji.
