Abstract
Aphids belong to the important group of pests on winter wheat in Vojvodina. The species Sitobion avenae seems to be more harmful than other species. Every year, aphids appear in cereal crops, but in varying intensity. That depends on climatic conditions and on the activity of natural enemies during the growing period. Cereal aphids serve as food for a wide spectrum of aphid-specific, as well as polyphagous predators. During the period of investigations (May 4 - July 5, 2008), in the vicinity of Novi Sad, within colonies of aphids on winter wheat crops, many species of specific and generalist predators have been recorded. The majority of registered species belong to the following families: Coccinellidae, Chrysopidae, Syrphidae, Cecidomyiidae, Chamaemyiidae, Anthocoridae and Nabidae. Ladybirds were the most abundant, representing about 46% of total number of predators. Hover flies larvae were the most abundant of the predacious diptera. During the May and begining of June, the most abundant were species from the families Coccinellidae, Chrysopidae and Syrphidae. In the second half of June, more abundant were bugs from families Anthocoridae and Nabidae. These findings indicate, that winter wheat crops maybe regarded as an ecological reservoir for natural enemies of aphids.
