Vlastimir Peričić: The marks for the professional biography
University of Arts, Faculty of Music Arts, Serbia
Keywords: Peričić; muzička literatura; solo pesme; škola klarineta
Abstract
Significant sections of two articles dedicated to Vlastimir Peričić consider this composer's cessation of compositional output since his maturity. Dejan Despić, the author of those interview-based articles, conjectures that this period of Peričić's career coincided with the avant-garde movement, which was not suitable for Peričić's artistic expression. Moreover, Peričić declared he stopped feeling the need to express himself through music. For him, writing music theory textbooks was a more useful form of expression, as they were not currently available to Serbian musicians. During the last years of his life he returned to composing new, and recomposing existing works, which recieved positive critical attention and continue to be performed on concert stages. Therefore Vlastimir Peričić should be considered both as a composer and theoretician of music.
