Abstract
Exploitation of thermal energy plants which run on biomass is specific for several reasons. Such plants are larger than the ones running on conventional fuels, they are more demanding in terms of manning and maintenance (cleaning, etc.), while the boiler rooms require larger space for fuel manipulation, due to larger dimensions of biomass bales, more frequent stoking, volatile fuel, and specific feeding requirements. Besides, the equipment used in such plants has a number of specific features. For these reasons, the facilities and equipment used in such plants have to meet some extra demands compared to their conventional counterparts. Suggested in this paper are directions for design, building, and exploitation of thermal plants which run on baled biomass.
