Industrija događaja kao specifičnost uslužnog sektora i osnova ekonomskog razvoja
Events industry as a specificity of service sector and basis for economic development
Abstract
Events are everywhere around us, and they are not merely representing a response to human leisure, but a significant impact on the quality of people's lives. It might be said that, through history, human's need for trading directly created events. In modern society, events have a strong role in social and cultural life, and they can give great contribution in the field of entertainment and economy. The importance of the effects of events is mostly reflected in the long-term benefits. If we consider the industry of contemporary events (especially the so-called mega events and hallmark events), stands out that events have a great impact on the environment and the society in general. The effects of events on the society are reflected by the development of infrastructure, employment, GDP growth, social interaction, cultural and tourism promotion, etc. This paper puts the focus on the economic impacts of events and considers their possible demonstrations in the social environment. The paper also presents specific advantages of event organization based on examples, such as the Olympic Games in Beijing and London, and Exit festival, as a major entertainment event in Serbia.
