Abstract
Energy is one of strategic resources for development of economy and society in general, and permanent increase of fuel prices is reality. Because of that, developed countries have started to rationalize consumption of fossil fuel through energy efficiency and increased utilization of renewables. Sustainable development, energy efficiency, consumption of renewables and environmental protection are the most actual issues at the beginning of the new century. After recognizing the fact that energy is predominantly cause of GHGs (SO2, NOx and CO2) emission, research in the field of technology and production of systems for utilization renewables, as clean energy sources, without harmful effects and emission, have started. The most important role of renewables is in reduction greenhouse gasses effect, and in increase energy efficiency. In the paper, short review of alternative energy sources from the viewpoint of sustainable development, energy efficiency and environmental protection, as well as role of technology of disposal gas and biogas as energy source exploitation, is presented.
