Sažetak
Ideja o evoluciji putem prirodne selekcije predstavlja jednu od najvažnijih naučnih i filozofskih ideja u istoriji čovečanstva. Čovek koji je najviše zaslužan za njeno formulisanje i elaboraciju jeste Čarls Darvin, ali to ne znači da nije bilo filozofa i naučnika pre njega koji nisu bili manje ili više blizu njenom otkrivanju. U radu se govori o tome kako je ideja koncipirana pre Darvina i predstavljeni su vodeći predarvinistički evolucionisti.
