Energy analysis of conventional and condensation dehydration of biomaterials

Abstract
Ordinary production of dehydrated fruit cannot be realized without regular supply of raw materials and also it cannot be realized without regular energy supply. Dehydration process as a technological operation is a big energy consumer. Apart from increasing the quality of dehydrated materials, one of the main aims of improving dehydrating technology is increasing the energy efficiency. The paper makes a progress in decreasing the consumption of heat energy, i.e. fuel, by installing the heat pump. The heat balance is calculated and the comparative analysis of energy consumption with and without the pump is presented. The results obtained show that dehydration plant having the heat pump saves more energy because considerable decrease of energy consumption is observed, which resulted in significant saving of fuel for the same production capacity. This method of energy saving is also environment-friendly.
