Weed flora in organic onion production: Allium cepa L. (Alliaceae Borkhausen 1797, Amaryllidales)

Abstract
The floristic and ecological research of weed flora in organic onion production in the open air was carried out during the vegetation period 2011-2012 near the villages of Kisač, Ljutovo and Kelebija. The weed flora consisted of 26 taxa, while weed infestation of onion crops was small as the measures of weed control were applied on the regular basis. The analysis of life forms indicates therophytic character of weed flora in onion (80.77%). The analysis of ecological indices of weed flora shows that the studied agroecosystems were characterized as moderately dry (F–2.31), neutral to slightly alkaline (R–3.35), mesoeutrophic (N–3.61), with medium humus content (H–2.96), well aerated (D–3.77), not saline (S-- 84.62%), of favorable light (L–3.85) and thermal (T–4.12) regime, with the dominant moderately continental climate conditions (K–3.08). Phytogeographic analysis of weed flora indicates the dominance of the taxa which are widely distributed.
