Sažetak
Proteklu je godinu u međunarodnim okvirima obeležilo Arapsko proleće. Talas revolucija pod kojim su pali mnogi režimi arapskog sveta, iznedrio je i nov način poimanja odnosa socijalnih mreža i političkih tokova. Mreže koje su svoju ulogu do tada nalazile prevashodno u sferi zabave i ličnih kontakata, predstavljene su širom sveta kao oruđe koje je revoluciju učinilo mogućom. Da li je, ipak, opravdano uzdizati društvene mreže na taj nivo, pitanje je koje se postavlja i u akademskim krugovima širom sveta. Ono što se o mrežama poput Twiter-a ili Facebook-a može sa sigurnošću reći je, da su one izmenile način na koji se o pobunama i ratovima govori i izveštava. Slike, video zapisi, kao i komentari učesnika sukoba, obilazili su svet na način koji se može smatrati pobunom protiv diktature koja je postojala u tradicionalnim medijima. Ove su mreže, dakle, bile sredstvo koje je doprinelo, olakšalo i izmenilo tok revolucije, međutim ne mogu biti predstavljene kao conditio sine qua non celokupnog Arapskog proleća.
