Sažetak
Opšta hipoteza rada određuje da su političke prepreke razlog demokratskog deficita u arapskom svetu. Nedostatak demokratske tradicije u arapskim društvima nije u korelaciji sa islamskom kulturom, već pre svega sa pojedinačnim obrascima državne tvorevine, institucionalnim nasleđem autoritarizma i ekonomskim modelom kroni kapitalizma. Odnos između islama i demokratije više je stvar političkog nadmetanja i konkurentnih očitavanja religijskih spisa nego teološko-filozofske spekulacije. Pretpostavka o uticaju islama na ishod arapskog proleća, kao prepreke demokratskoj tranziciji, ponovo je ograniče na. U Egiptu je Vrhovni ustavni sud u svom radu prepoznatljiv po progresivnom pristupu interpretaciji islamskog zakona korišćenjem distinktivne, pomalo idiosinkretične verzije modernog rasuđivanja. U oblasti verskih pitanja, granica do koje bi nova vlast u Tunisu trebalo da ide podrazumevala bi vraćanje izgubljene nezavisnosti verskim institucijama i obrazovanju. Arapsko proleće razotkriva prave strukturne uzroke demokratskog deficita sadržane od združenih vojno-političkih i ekonomskih faktora.
