University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Law
Abstract
To the problem of labeling of genetically modified food in Serbian law is dedicated just one provision of Law on Food Safety, leaving a gap with a plenty of unresolved issues, which are regulated, first of all, in EU Law in a very detailed manner. U.S. Law pays particular attention to this problem as well, adopting, however, completely different approach of labeling of genetically modified food from the EU legislator. The authors in this paper consider said differences between EU Law and U.S. Law, and they speak as well about current legal regulation of genetically modified food in Serbia, and propose adopting of some new rules, that would be in accordance with striving of Serbia to become a member of EU and World Trade Organization.
