Sažetak
Ključna preokupacija i fokus analitičke pažnje ovog rada jeste razmatranje uzročnih i posledičnih odnosa između političke i ekonomske dimenzije društvenog života, odnosno prelazak granice između ekonomije i politike. Glavna debata u ovom radu jeste: kakva je uzročna veza između demokratije i ekonomskog razvoja? Kada raspravljamo o konceptualnoj sponi demokratijarazvoj ključni nalaz analize ogleda se u činjenici da, uprkos tome što su dokazi u naučnoj literaturi mešoviti i u celini uzev neubedljivi, malo je neslaganja oko toga da su tokom vremena demokratija i razvoj međusobno zavisni i uzajamno jačajući. Iako je potvrđena snažna pozitivna veza između GDP per capita (ključni pokazatelj ekonomskog razvoja) i stepena razvoja demokratske strukture u slučaju odabranih tranzicionih ekonomija, demokratija, međutim, ne zavisi isključivo od stanja ekonomije u državi, a ekonomska slabost se ne prevodi direktno u nemogućnost demokratije.
