Sažetak
Kada je logika dobila status nauke postala je instrument napretka u oblasti prirodne filozofije i naučni metod u 6. i 5. veku p.n.e. u Kini, Indiji i arapskom svetu, na Bliskom istoku, u antičkoj Grčkoj i starom Rimu. Brz napredak prirodnih nauka pratili su sistematski napori u grčkom i helenističkom svetu u periodu od 4. do 1. veka p.n.e. da se znanje organizuje, pri čemu je vrhunac dostignut u Rimskom carstvu posle 2. veka n.e. Istovremeno su se filozofija, prirodne nauke i tehnologija razvijale i na Istoku. Slučajni razvoj mašina i mehanizama nastao iz potrebe pratio je razvoj složenih mašina sistematskim korišćenjem pravila i koncepcija projektovanja do kojih se nije došlo empirijski već istraživanjima od najranijih vremena. U radu se razmatra uticaj prirodne filozofije klasičnog doba na razvoj mehanike i tehnike kao nauke u periodu od 5. veka p.n.e. do srednjeg veka.
