Non-directive psychotherapy processes, regardless of the theoretical foundations they are starting from, show certain progress in patients they are applied to, which cannot be explained by the theoretical foundations. They all come down to the purity of primary human nature, which they aim to reach by freeing the individuals from their misconceptions and erroneous judgments, even if they are not founded on the religious concept of man as a phenomenon. Also, they never reach an agreement on what has, in fact, happened when the clinical picture improves. The author of this article advocates for the psychotherapists to return to the phenomena of psychological life as the resultant of interaction between the biological foundations and the requirements of human sociability, in order to try and unravel the mystery of psychotherapy procedure and outcome using a common language and conceptual system. In this context, hermeneutics is pointed out as a scientific approach to the unknown, based on the phenomena of life as indicators pointing in the direction of more in-depth research, especially of the psychological life of man.
