Contemporary maritime terrorism
Sažetak
Pomorski terorizam je bezbednosna pretnja novijeg datuma, a ekspanziju doživljava u poslednjoj dekadi. Uzimajući u obzir obim svetske trgovinske razmene i ranjivost svetskog pomorskog transporta, jasno je da pomorski terorizam izaziva značajne materijalne gubitke. Time se ugrožavaju ekonomska i finansijska, a posredno i nacionalna i međunarodna bezbednost. Ovladavanjem savremenim tehnologijama teroristi prete da izazovu što veće ljudske gubitke, ekološke katastrofe širih razmera i disfunkcionalnost sistema svetskog pomorskog transporta. S tim u vezi, u radu su prikazani mogući scenariji budućih terorističkih napada, s osvrtom na ranjivost sistema svetskog pomorskog transporta.
Abstract
Maritime terrorism is a phenomenon of modern age, which escalated in the past decade. Having in mind the volume of world trade and the vulnerable nature of the world maritime transport, it seems clear that the maritime terrorism results in significant material loss. By mastering new technologies, the terrorists threaten to cause enormous losses in human life and extensive environmental disasters, as well as to completely block the system of global maritime transport. The subject of this paper shows possible scenarios for future attacks with an overview of the vulnerability of the global maritime transport system.
