Abstract
The construction project of 'New' copper smelter factory and sulfuric acid production which is in the implementation process, includes the introduction of a new copper concentrate smelting (Flash Smelting Process), replacement of the current sulfuric acid production process for a double-double adsorption and catalysis. For this process, including converting copper matte, the secondary (waste) heat energy-heat power of about 37 MWt will be received. The secondary (waste) energy can be used for technological needs (air separation plant, concentrate drying, fuel oil heating, electrolyte regeneration, etc.), for heat and electricity. All these considerations would be addressed to the 'winter' period (October-April) due to a greater need for heating in relation to the 'summer' period (April-October) when the heating system is not working. Using steam condensing unit to produce only electricity, its annual production is about 52 GWeh/a (Power 6.6 MWe). If the produced steam is used to produce electricity and heat for the technological needs, the annual electricity output is about 34 GWeh/a and heat about 61 GWth/a. Given the lack of fossil fuels, global Earth warming and the constant energy prices growth, one of the most important thing is to find a possibility for designing and implementation of new lines smelting construction, production of sulfuric acid and converting matte process, maximum use of secondary (waste) heat process to meet technological needs for heat, and the rest is used for electricity generation which success depends on the season and understanding the enterprise management needs. Using steam condensing unit to produce electricity only, its annual production, based on the research, with an increasing level of secondary heat utilization, copper production processes which reduce energy consumption and emissions of greenhouse gases: carbon 2.933 tCO2/tce, sulfur dioxide 0.014 tSO2/tce and nitrogen 8.163 tN2/tce (index 'ce' means coal equivalent).
