Neki od pristupa u proučavanju značenja - kratak pregled
Some of the approaches to meaning: An overview
Abstract
Meaning remains one of the most difficult subjects in linguistics in spite of the fact there is a very long tradition of its study. A bewildering variety of approaches to the definition and determination of 'meaning' witnesses to its complex nature. Some linguists are inclined to interpret its nature in more or less psychological terms, assuming that there are mental processes involved in the situation; some conceive of meaning as a property of the linguistic forms themselves, as their ability to refer to something or to stand for something else; other think that words themselves have no meaning apart from the contexts in which they are used, etc. This paper comprises a short overview of some of the approaches and, as such, may be considered as the very illustration of their variety.
