Retarding impacts of inefficient agricultural transformation; the case of Yugoslavia
(naslov ne postoji na srpskom)
Inštitut za sociologijo, Ljubljana
Sažetak
(ne postoji na srpskom)
In order to be set on a path of efficient modern transition any social system should not avoid an effective agricultural transformation. Moreover, through various surveys this parameter might be proved as a necessary prerequisite of modernization. In this respect two terms, i. e. defeudalization and agrarian reform perfectly defined this process. The empirical evidence analyzed and conclusions arrived at in this article, highlight certain common features of the agrarian reforms implemented in the Yugoslav regions during the last two centuries. Regardless the timing and insertion into the process of agricultural transformation, these reforms followed the same pace and direction model, i. e. fragmentation of land and poor capacities for the increase of agricultural productivity. This led in general to the conclusion that the agricultural transformation in both Slovenia and Central Serbia did not significantly contribute to their efficient modern transition.
