Sažetak
Pred Vama je prevod uvodnog eseja kanonske studij e o gejming kulturi - "Igre Imperije: globalni kapitalizam i videoigre", Nika Dajer-Vitforda i Grega de Pojtera ("Games o f Empire: Global Capitalism and Video Games", University o f Minnesota Press, 2009). Bez obzira na godinu izlaska knjige, ovo je i dalje izuzetno koristan pregled koji, kao takav, omogućava puno razumevanje drugih priloga u okviru temata. Smeštajući kulturu video-igara u epistemološki paspartu koji su odredili teoretičari Imperije, Majkl Hart (Michael Hardt) i Antonio Negri (Antonio Negri), autori su postavili temelje drugačijeg, kritičkog proučavanja, koje počiva na dubokom razumevanju logike virtuelnih igara, na poznavanju njihove teleologije i njihove recepcije. Njihova kulturološko-politikološka analiza medija inklinira ka zaključcima o središnjem mestu koje video-igre danas zauzimaju unutar savremenog globalnog poretka; tim pre što su u njemu zastupljene i kao sredstvo vladanja i kao (virtuelni) prostor borbe i otpora. Pravo na objavljivanje prevoda dobijeno je ljubaznošću autora i izdavača (University of Minnesota Press).
