Abstract
The content of this paper is concerned with the manager's personality and the process of managerial decision making in organizations - food producers. The manager is by profession a person who makes decisions. He faces unstable procedures, which should be followed, conflicts: uncertainties, and risks. To overcome them is his mission. This paper is about technical, personal and conceptual skills that a manager should posses, contributing to find a key for his success. The field of management is divided into basic components: planning, organizing, coordination, recruiting people, managing, controlling, and evaluating. Special contribution is the discussion of the issue of decision making during crises when decisions should be made under great stress.
