Management of small and medium-sized enterprises: As the future of Serbia
University of Business Academy in Novi Sad, Faculty of economics and engineering management
The goal of this paper is to present the results of numerous studies in the world market economy, which indicate that the number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in relation to the large ones is continuously growing, as they represent a generator of economic development in any market economy today. However, despite these facts, we must not neglect the significance of large companies, because their interdependence with SMEs increases every day. Process management in small and medium-sized enterprises is somewhat specific due to the fact that SMEs operate in difficult conditions of insufficient resources. Thus, management of small and medium-sized enterprises takes the form of corporate management in conditions of limited resources. Hence, economies that have recognized the necessity of collaboration between SMEs and large companies will be more successful than those which have not. The concepts of management of SMEs and management of large companies are not essentially different. The necessity for management is evident in both groups.
