Abstract
People's tolerance to the life stress differs depending on individual structural flexibility that is connected with the socio-psychological factors of one's environment. The aim of this work is to analyze certain psychological differences between soldiers, i.e. soldiers without war experience and the soldiers wounded in the war with and without post- traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The sample included 419 soldiers and 38 casualties treated at the Military Medical Centre, Karaburma after the surgical intervention following the wounding. They were all middle age males of average education. Horovic's scale of stress impact (IES-R) and Plutchik Index of Emotion (PIE) were administered to the wounded. The results of IES-R have shown the existence of two equal groups - one with PTSD (A) and another without it (B). Their group protocols on PIE were then compared. The casualties with PTSD achieve significantly lower scores on the dimensions of incorporation, protection and reproduction and higher scores on the aggression dimension.
