Abstract
Innovative activities and cooperation with enterprises from environment are some of the most important developing factors in modern economy. Research was conducted on a sample of 766 enterprises in the Hungary - Serbia cross-border region. This research showed that enterprises from Hungary and Serbia use different activities targeted at innovation of product and technology. Hungarian enterprises prefer the strategy of introducing new products and services, while Serbian enterprises are more oriented towards the improvement of existing products and services. Serbian enterprises are more active in terms of innovation of products and technology, but implementation and usage of these innovations are at a very low level. It seems that very few patents and trademarks get registered. Most enterprises are not active in terms of cooperation between the two countries. Among those who show some kind of cooperation, Hungarian enterprises mainly cooperate in the field of industry or trade/ purchase, while Serbian enterprises mainly cooperate with suppliers with the purpose of purchasing certain products.
