The implementation of collaborative model of inventory optimization in retail stores

Firm profitability and development in unstable market conditions, characterized by increasing competition and demanding customers, depend on implementation of innovative business systems and models. The use of modern information technology and cooperation between business partners are crucial for successful implementation of these business systems. Large retailers have been establishing long-term relationships with their suppliers, based on the interactivity and standardization of information flows. One of the problems in the retail sector, which negatively affects not only the retailers, but also manufacturers, refers to out-of-stocks in retail stores. The aim of this paper is to highlight the negative effects of above-mentioned problem, and to present the coherent consumer-centric business system that optimizes shelf availability.
