Epidemics of hospital infection in Belgrade area from 2004 to 2013.

The paper describes the epidemiological characteristics of the epidemics of Hospital Infections (HI), occurred in health care facilities in the area of Belgrade from 2004. to 2013. According to the annual report regarding the work in the prevention, combating and elimination of infectious diseases, in the past decade a total of 58 epidemics of HI have been registered of which 860 people have been affected. Methods of descriptive statistics showed the annual average of 6 epidemics occurred (range 1-17 epidemics) and 15 affected individuals by the epidemic. The largest share (46.5) within the total number of the epidemics of HI has a group of intestinal infectious diseases, respiratory group - 39.6%, and a group of other infectious diseases - 13.8%. Out of 860 patients affected by the epidemics of HI, the highest percentage (46.5%) of patients belonging to the group of intestinal infectious diseases, hereafter respiratory - 45.8%, and the lowest percentage is among other infectious diseases - 7.6% of patients. Within 49 epidemics outbreaks, 9 different etiological agents was confirmed, and within 9 epidemics outbreaks, causer was not determined.
