Some characteristics of injuries people from animals in District of Pirot from 2006 to 2015

Abstract
For epidemiology injuries of people are the most important in the form of bites from animals such as: wolf, fox, domestic dog, cat home, wild cat, marten, weasel, wild and domestic pigs, cattle and bats. These animals can be a source, and their sting, or saliva route of transmission of rabies virus to humans. In the period 2006 - 2015 in Pirot district registered 980 people from the bite of injured animals. Of them 58.88% were male and 41.12% female, aged 2 - 89 years. Most bitten at the age above 20 years (75.11%). The greatest number of bites, took place in the municipality of Pirot (88.67%). A larger number of bites occurred in urban areas (65.71%) compared to rural areas (34.28 %). Most bites from the dog (89.08%), and then by domestic cats (9.08%). The most common place bites on the street (56.33%) and then in the yard (30.92%) and in the house (6.12%). Over half of the bite was over clothes. The most common localization is in the area of the lower leg (42.75%), and then in the area of the hand (21.33%). Around 8% of the bites were serious nature, about 1.5% of the hospital were treated and about 15% of the bites were caused by the procedure of the person injured. More than half the bitten suddenly, without warning, they did not have an animal in sight. The most common time of the bite was between 8 o'clock in the morning and 20 o'clock at night. The minimum number of bites occurred in the winter months from November to February.
