Sažetak
Beogradsko žensko društvo, osnovano 1875. bilo je prvo žensko udruženje u Srbiji. Tokom sedam decenija svoga postojanja delovalo je na humanitarnom, nacionalnom, prosvetnom i privrednom planu. Pokrenulo je prvi srpski ženski list 'Domaćica' (1879), osnovalo prvu Radeničku (Zanatsku) školu (1879) da bi se u njoj devojke pripremale za krojačice, vezilje i tkalje. Od 1882. imalo je svoj Pazar za izlaganje i prodaju proizvoda domaće ženske radinosti i time predstavljalo Srbiju u svetu. Kao prvenstveno humanitarno društvo, pomagalo je 'sirote i nevoljne', osnovalo je prvu Đačku trpezu (1899) i dom starica (1900), a u vreme ratova organizovalo je radionice za izradu odeće i sanitetskog materijala, i bolnice. Bilo je uzor i drugim ženskim društvima u Srbiji koja su kasnije nastajala. Svojim delovanjem ostavilo je dubok trag u kulturnoj istoriji srpskog naroda.
Abstract
Belgrade Women's Association, established in 1875, was the very first women's association in Serbia. During seven decades of it's existence, the Association was active in the field of humanitarian, national, educational and economic affairs. It began publication of the first Serbian women's journal 'Housewife' (1879), opened the first Vocational (Craftsmen) school (1879) where girls were trained for dressmakers, weavers and embroidery makers. From 1882 the Association opened its Bazaar for exhibition and sale of the products of women's handwork, by which it represented Serbia in the world. As primarily the humanitarian association, it helped the 'poors and miserables', established the first Students' Dining Table (restaurant) (1899) and Home for the aged (1900), and in the war time it organized workshops for making clothes and sanitary material, opened hospitals. This Association served as a model to other women's associations in Serbia, established later. by its actions, the Association left deep trail in the cultural history of the Serbian people.
